Should you not meet the minimum required cut scores as outlined above, you will be placed into developmental coursework. You can always retest - there is no limit to the amount of times you can retake a section of the TSI2, however, you will not be allowed to retest on the same day and it is strongly encouraged that you seek study resources between tests. Most students do not improve their score without undergoing some type of preparation.
The following coursework is designed to help students develop the proper skills needed to move on to the next level and succeed when they enter a college-level class. These courses do not count as credit toward your degree plan, but do count for financial aid purposes (up to a total of 18 hours).
Developmental Math Coursework
TSI2 Math score of 910-949 + NRS 4-5: MATH 131 (Intermediate Algebra) is for students who are not yet fully prepared to take a college-level math. Students in MATH 131 must complete the course with a grade of C or better to be considered "college ready". (For Algebra Intensive Pathways). Co-requisite option available.
TSI2 Math score of 910-949 + NRS 1-5: MATH 120 (Foundations of Mathematics for Non-STEM Majors) is for students entering liberal arts fields. Students in MATH 120 must complete the course with a grade of C or better to be considered "college ready". (For non-Algebra Intensive Pathways). Co-requisite option available. who need foundational math skills before entering Intermediate Algebra.
TSI2 Math score of 910-949 + NRS 1-3 (STEM Majors): PJCM 300 (Beginning Algebra) is for students who need foundational math skills before entering Intermediate Algebra. It is offered by Paris Junior College on the Texas A&M University-Commerce campus and is included in financial aid hours. However, students must pay PJC directly for their tuition. Students enrolled in PJCM 300 must pass the course with a grade of C or better to proceed to the next developmental step.
Developmental English Coursework
TSI2 ELAR score of 910-944 + NRS 1-4: ENG 1301 and ENG 100 is for students who did not meet the minimum cut scores for ELAR. ENG 100 is a 3 hour lab class taken alongside ENG 1301 for students needing remediation in Reading and/or Writing.
