  • NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION

DO NOT leave questions blank on the E-TASFA application. An incomplete or partial application will cause delays in processing. Please contact FAO.TASFA@tamuc.edu, if you cannot answer a question or have concerns prior to submitting your application.

The English and Spanish versions of the paper TASFA and required documentation can only be submitted via mail, fax, in-person, or through the Secure Upload Tool.

Please request your tax forms in advance. Tax return transcripts arrive within 5 to 10 business days to the address the IRS has on file for you. If you are submitting your application and documentation via mail, it may take an additional 5 to 10 business days to be received by our office.

If you or your parent(s) were self-employed, please provide Schedule C Profit or Loss from Business of the Income Tax Return for the tax year instead of the W-2 forms. Please make sure to include all 1099s received for the requested year, if applicable.

For parents or students that worked in a different country, our office will request that country’s equivalent of the income tax return transcript and W-2s. All foreign tax documents will need to be translated and converted to U.S. dollars. If the country in question does not have an equivalent to the U.S. IRS, please contact our office to determine what documentation is acceptable.

State residency for tuition purposes is different from residency for voting, obtaining a driver’s license, or for tax purposes. If you have questions regarding residency, please contact the admissions office.

If you are deemed an independent student, you do not need to provide your parent(s) information on the application or submit your parent’s income tax forms. Dependency status information can be viewed in the TASFA Notes.

Our university is committed to assist all students regardless of immigration status. For information on campus resources available, please visit our DACA/Undocumented Students webpage.
